Spring 2007 Trend Report by Diana Bland

Spring 2007 fashions will arrive beginning in January. While transitioning from fall to spring fashions, the darker hues and weightier fabrics of Fall 2006, will carry you fashionably until then. Watch for Spring 2007’s pale to bright colors in fabrics from jerseys to chiffons.

Color and Design Report

The sunny hues to watch for Spring are: saffron, butterscotch, marigold and lemon crème. Faded terracotta, almond, putty, and dove grey will also be widely popular. Pale lavenders (wisteria), bay blue, and blueberry, pea and fern green add excitement. Richer colors including dusty pomegranate, mulberry, fuchsia, magenta, and tangerine will be found in embroidered and brocaded linens. Skirts, jackets, and dresses in tweeds, paisley, and floral prints will be featured.
Designers have presented safari and cropped jackets, with belted and cinched sleeves. Suede tunics and vests have made the scene. Cashmere and light wool chambray has artfully been used to create wrap coats, and belted shirtdresses. Some garments are tailored with ruffles, top and bottom. Navy or ivory cardigans complete the look.

Eyelet tops with slim pants provide a young and carefree style. Designers for Y and Kei have introduced a taffeta pleated circle skirt for more formal occasions. A hand-pleated silk charmeuse trapeze dress complete with ruffled hem creates an alluring choice. Plan to buy a long matte jersey gown or a jersey chiffon party dress with plunging cowl back or halter neck. A blue cotton taffeta dress could be worn day and evening. Prussian blue is being shown in taffeta coats, too.

Pamella Roland has designed a putty embroidered linen coat with wool chambray skirt and a matching linen tote. A cotton gingham wrap shirtdress encourages spring thoughts with its airiness. Casual wrap dresses with shawl collars in solid jersey knits will provide fashion for work or play.
The "little black" shantung dress may have a beaded neckline or ribbon embroidery trim. More formal evening attire may be a black taffeta coat and pant with matching cumberbund or satin beaded bandeau.

Designers for Terexov and Reem Acra have introduced an organza polka dot shirt and brocade skirt combination. Mini-houndstooth skirts and gowns with pockets add variety to collections.

Peter Som's grey pinwale cordoroy skinny pant, pumice leather jacket, polished cotton dress, and striped linen sweater dress are worth watching for. Belts of antique coins, leather braid, or antique brass links will be popular with most ensembles.
Abaete for Payless footwear for Holiday '06 will be available in November.
